Let’s make May a month of hope for all those affected by Lyme disease.

May: Lyme Disease Awareness Month
May marks the return of fine weather… but also the start of the high-risk season for Lyme disease. As ticks become more active in our forests, parks and even gardens, the Association québécoise de la maladie de Lyme (AQML) reminds us of the crucial importance of prevention and early diagnosis. Lyme disease can have serious consequences if not recognized and treated in time. Yet too many people still encounter incomprehension, long delays and medical wandering.
AQML takes action every day to :
- Informing the population about essential preventive actions
- Working with healthcare professionals
- Supporting those affected by the disease
- Defending the interests of patients and their families
- Represent the issues of Lyme disease at all stages and its co-infections to the authorities
Here are the AQML activities taking place to mark Lyme Disease Awareness Month
“Drama-tique” campaign
As part of Awareness Month, the AQML is relaunching its provincial “Drama-tique” campaign, designed in collaboration with the Acolyte agency. Broadcast on radio, on the web and in communities, this campaign aims to remind people that Lyme disease is preventable, but that its consequences can be dramatic.
Faced with a steady rise in the number of cases, AQML wants to encourage sustainable preventive behaviors.
Protect yourself. Examine yourself. Get informed.
These simple gestures can make all the difference.
