Watch The Quiet Epidemic
The AQML is delighted to announce a web screening of the documentary film “The Quiet Epidemic”, with French subtitles.
As you know, Lyme disease is currently experiencing significant growth, leaving a considerable number of people suffering from numerous debilitating long-term symptoms. In addition to these symptoms, sufferers face a number of considerable challenges, such as access to diagnosis, access to treatment, but above all the process of accepting and adapting to living with a chronic, disabling and invisible disease.
The documentary is the ideal resource to share with your family, friends and caregivers, to help shed light on your difficult reality. The Quiet Epidemic follows a young Brooklyn girl and a Duke University scientist, both diagnosed with a disease that doesn’t exist: Chronic Lyme Disease. Their search for answers lands them in the middle of a vicious medical debate. What begins as a patient story evolves into an investigation into the history of Lyme disease, dating back to its discovery in 1975. A paper trail of suppressed scientific research and buried documents reveal why tick-borne diseases have been allowed to spread quietly around the world.
