Call for Applications to Join Our Board of Directors
The Association québécoise de la maladie de Lyme (AQML) is a non-profit charitable organization whose mission is to inform the general public and its members about Lyme disease and its co-infections, the health issues they cause, and to promote their prevention. To this end, its primary goal is to obtain from health, medical, governmental, public, and private authorities adequate services for the prevention, detection, diagnosis, treatment, and support related to all stages and aspects of the disease.
The AQML is managed by a board of directors made up of volunteers elected by members during the annual general meeting. Currently, the board consists of 6 administrators selected based on their strong interest in the cause (many of them are personally affected by Lyme disease), as well as their diverse attributes and skills. They share the responsibility of advancing the mission of our organization. Occasionally, volunteer committees are formed to address specific issues, assisting board members in carrying out their duties.
The board members meet regularly in a virtual format. This practice was in place even before the necessity brought on by COVID-19, as the board members reside in different cities across Quebec. This presents a significant organizational challenge.
Our association has been in existence for only a few years and currently has over 400 members. At the moment, there are three vacant positions on the board. We are eager to fill these roles to strengthen our team, as the number of people infected by ticks is steadily increasing in Quebec, and the challenges we face are immense.
I invite individuals who wish to join a dynamic board of directors and are willing to do so out of altruism to contact me. Whether your experience, knowledge, expertise, or talents are in organizational, administrative, governance, communications, fundraising, or medical fields, your application will be warmly welcomed.
The interim president
