AQML’s mission

The Association québécoise de la maladie de Lyme (AQML) is a charitable organization established in November 2013. We’re a young, fast-growing association working to raise awareness of the seriousness of the disease in Quebec, and to support those who suffer from it.

AQML’s mission:

  • Raising awareness of Lyme disease (LD) and its co-infections
  • Practical support for people with LD and their caregivers
  • Collaborate with medical and government authorities to ensure that Quebecers affected by these diseases receive the appropriate services for all stages and aspects of the disease
  • Ensure the association’s long-term future.

Donate to AQML

Donate to help us continue to support patients affected by the various forms of the disease, and to fight for its recognition. By donating, you may be helping someone in your family, as Lyme disease is the most common vectorborne disease in North America, and is currently expanding rapidly in Quebec. The AQML issues official tax receipts for all donations of $20 or more.

We respond to the needs of those who contact us, not only by providing relevant information about the disease, but also by directing them to the appropriate resources for the diagnosis and treatment process. In addition, the association provides tools to overcome loneliness and improve quality of life for people living with the disease.

In order to put an end to the stigma surrounding Lyme disease, and to overcome the denial that surrounds its diagnosis and treatment in Quebec, the AQML is exposing the difficult battle waged by Lyme sufferers to the general public, as well as their ambitions, hopes and expectations.

The AQML represents the heartfelt cry of patients who refuse to become victims of a medical controversy. Consequently, it lobbies the political authorities on behalf of its members.
